Dr. Marc Hairston
Writer
Richardson, TX

Biography:
An animation fan since childhood, Marc Hairston became an otaku in the early 90s when he accidentally discovered Nadia-The Secret of Blue Water. Lacking any artistic talent that would allow him to actually create anime, he did the next best thing: he started writing about it.
He is a frequent contributor to Animerica magazine and co-taught the first mainstream college literature course that included anime and manga in the required reading. He was a speaker the first Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits workshop at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. For some reason, the SGMS folks failed to learn their lesson and invited him back for the next two workshops.
