News for MomoCon 2010:
MomoCon announces MomoCon on Tour, dance, and photoshoot series
Atlanta, Georgia - July 7th, 2009 MomoCon, Atlanta's annual free-admission anime/gaming/comics convention, is proud to announce MomoCon on Tour, a series of on-going peripheral events. It is aimed at providing a "fan fix" for the community between conventions. Some of MomoCon on Tour's upcoming events include the Palmetto Tour, series of three photo shoots across South Carolina, as well as the Pretty in Pink Ball, formal/semi-formal charity dance.
In an effort to bring community events to South Carolina, MomoCon is happy to present the Palmetto Tour! On July 18th, staff members from the convention will be bringing a photographer and hosting a cosplay photo shoot at The Battery in Charleston, SC from 1pm to 5pm. Falls Park and its walking bridge in Greenville, SC will play host to the second shoot on August 1st from 1pm to 5pm. Finally, on August 15th, the tour will travel to Columbia, SC and host a shoot at Riverwalk in conjunction with Club Nashi of the University of South Carolina from 1pm to 5pm. All shoots are free to attend and cosplay is not required. Some locations may require a small fee for parking.
As part of the MomoCon Goes Pink charity campaign, MomoCon would also like to welcome all to our Pretty in Pink Ball, August 29th, 2009, to be held at the Ballroom at the Georgia Tech Student Center from 7pm to 11pm! Come dance the night away to some timeless classics and anime/video game favorites. The Ball is formal/semi-formal, and ALL proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an international organization leading grass-roots efforts to research, fight and aid survivors of breast cancer.
One in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, and thousands of men are diagnosed every year. Don your pink finery and help kick this disease to the curb! Directions to the venue are available at www.momocon.com; the Ballroom was the location of the Dealer's Room at MomoCons 2006-2009.
The Pretty in Pink Ball will feature pink decorations, DJs playing your favorite danceable anime/video game tunes as well as great classic pop, rock, big band, lounge, and jazz music. Song suggestions can be made through www.momoconontour.com/ . There will also be an on-site photographer and backdrop for commemorative photos.
Because the event is classified as 'Semi-formal', we request that all attendees observe common etiquette rules regarding attire. Tuxedos and long dresses are not required, but are not restricted either. No jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, etc. will be allowed. Costumes are welcome, so long as they conform to standard semi-formal attire requirements. Kimonos are welcome as well. Pink attire is also not required, but is valued in the spirit of the event.
Admission to the event will be $10 at the door. For more information about any MomoCon on Tour event, please email [email protected], or visit http://www.momoconontour.com .
