Biography:
Les Claypool has been the owner/operator of Magnitude 8 Post since 1989. In late 1991, after completing the music score and audio post-production on the Steve Wang film "Kung Fu Rascals", he was approached by U.S. Renditions and L.A. Hero to provide audio services for their new joint venture of dubbing Anime into English.
Early projects from the "garage studio days" included Orguss, Macross II, Guyver, Black Magic M-66, and the first Giant Robo among others.
Les' facility eventually grew to encompass multiple rooms, employees, and two locations. Credits from this period include Akira, Ambassador Magma, Appleseed, the Armitage series plus the Dual and Poly Matrix movies, Big O, Big O II with 5.1 remixes, the Blackjack series and feature, Castle of Cagliostro, Catnapped, Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop 5.1 Remixes, El Hazard, Fist of the North Star, Giant Robo, Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell: Innocence, Gundam 0080, 0083, and MS 08th team, Guyver II, Guyver: Dark Hero live action music score, Legend of Black Heaven, Macross Plus, Mysterious Play, Ninja Scroll, Orguss 02, Serial Experiment Lain, Solid State Society feature, Stand Alone Complex 52 episode series, Streetfighter II V series, Streetfighter II feature, Tri-Gun, The Wanderers, Wings of Honneamise, and Wolf's Rain.
Les recently completed a complete audio restoration, enhancement, and remix of both the Castle of Cagliostro and Streetfighter II features for the new Blu-Ray releases from Discotek. The new Streetfighter II English mix now contains completely re-edited dialog, the original Japanese music score, and numerous fixes and enhancements to the FX track amongst the many other extras included on the disc.
