Biography:
Kurt Strubeck is an FX artist born in Northern California in 1979. From early on, Kurt was drawn to creatures and monsters in film and television. It was these creations that would later be the entire focus of his art career. Blending the art of concept design, sculpture, moulding, casting, and painting, Kurt takes raw materials and ends with fully finished art pieces for display. Ranging from fully painted acrylic eyes to hair punched finished realistic silicone busts, Kurt strives to always be pushing forward in the FX industry. Some of Kurt's earliest influences are films such as Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Star Wars, Gremlins, Ghostbusters, and Return to Oz, comic books such as X-men, Punisher, Spawn, and X-Force. And TV shows and cartoons like He-man, GI Joe, TMNT, and the Muppets. Current influences include anime and films by Guillermo Del Toro.
Kurt is currently working on several tribute pieces from his favorite influences and developing concepts for personal creations. He is also showing and releasing new pieces at California cons in 2014.
