Biography:
Sir Terence David John Pratchett OBE, better know as simply Terry Pratchett (or perhaps Sir Terry) is a author beloved around the world for his comedic fantasy and science fiction books. His first book, The Carpet People, was published in 1971 but it was 1983's The Colour of Magic in which he birthed the series for which he is most widely acclaimed - the Discworld series.
He has gone on to become one of Britian's most loved fantasy authors - having his works adapted for sound, stage, and screen several times including Welcome to Discworld, Wyrd Sisters animated by Cosgrove Hall the studio behind Dangermouse; and Sky One's live action Hogfather, The Colour of Magic, Going Postal and upcoming The Unseen Academicals adaptations.
He was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1998 and as knighted "for services to literature" in 2009.
