Biography:
Monty Oum is the creator of a series of fan-made CG action movies called Dead Fantasy. These movies star a cast of characters from many video game series, including Final Fantasy, Dead or Alive, Kingdom Hearts, and Ninja Gaiden. His works include these characters fighting it out against each other battle royale-style in a number of different environments, including archaic ruins and modern cities. It is relatively complex when compared to other fighting style animations such as Xiao Xiao, and uses detailed 3D models of the characters it features. He has achieved a certain level of fame, particularly on the website Gametrailers.com . Since the first installment of Dead Fantasy, the series has been well received by the fans of both game series, with trailers, previews and the installments themselves being featured at several gaming conventions. There are currently five movies in the series, with three additional installments in the works. In addition to the Dead Fantasy series, Monty also created the video Haloid, a crossover between Halo and Metriod. Monty dropped out of high school to pursue video design, eventually landing him a job at Midway games. A few years later, he started working with Namco Bandai, and helped to create video games. He still works independently on his video processes, however. Recently he has left Namco and moved to Texas. Monty Oum is currently twenty-nine years old. He also frequents cons where he showcases his work. Monty was hired in 2009 by Rooster Teeth, the company responsible for Red vs Blue, as an animator.
