News for MomoCon 2010:

MomoCon announces first guests, events, and registration details

Anime O-Tekku of Georgia Tech is pleased to announce the return of MomoCon, annual anime/gaming/comics convention held in Atlanta, GA, March 20-21, 2010 at Georgia Tech campus. The convention is a family friendly event and is free of charge* to all attendees. People of all ages are encouraged to attend!

MomoCon's 2010 theme is music, and we are happy to announce the return of Extraordinary Contraptions, the steampunk-themed band who blends motown-funk bass grooves with a driving guitar, chaotic drums, playful engagingly keys, and three part vocal harmonies to create their unstuck-in-space-time steam-powered sound! Other confirmed guests include cosplayers Alethia Burns, Ana Aesthetic, and prop-makers Bill Winans and Harrison Krix, along with Otaku Fusion belly dancer, Seraphina.

Comic guests include Matt Simpson of the webcomic Nuclear Powered Toaster and Bob Pendarvis of Sugar Ninjas, an all-girls anthology series which showcase the talents of up-and-coming female comics artists, illustrators, and storytellers.

To manage its growing size, MomoCon will be having a cap of 7,000 attendees for its 2010 convention. The staff is working on a new on-campus venue in 2011 to ensure that a future cap is no longer necessary. Pre-registration is available in partnership with FandomU, a social network for convention attendees/fans, and is available at www.momocon.com. The main event remains FREE, but members donating at certain levels can enjoy a variety of benefits: badges mailed prior to the convention, early access to the Dealers Room, and more! Attendees are encouraged to pre-register immediately. Advance on-site registration and pre-reg badge pick-up will be available as early as March 19th at the Georgia Tech Campus. Attendees will remain able to register on-site the March 20th and 21st.

MomoCon is also announcing an open call to the fan community for T-shirt, Badge, and Program Book Art. Participating artists whose designs are chosen will receive a prize pack of anime and mange merchandise as well as full credit on MomoCon.com and in the program book.
