News for MechaCon 2006:

MechaCon returns to Lafayette, LA in August

LAFAYETTE, LA - January 17, 2006 - After a successful inaugural convention in 2005 - despite the arrival of Hurricane Katrina on the weekend of the event - MechaCon returns to the Hilton Lafayette August 11-13, 2006 with an all-new event dubbed MechaCon 2.0.

MechaCon is the first and only convention of its kind, bridging the genres of Anime and Transformers with Japanese cultural exhibits, panels and presentations.

Conveniently located along the I-10 corridor between New Orleans and Houston, Lafayette will again serve as the host city for MechaCon. Being a convention held in the "Hub City," MechaCon is easily accessible for fans from not only south, central and north Louisiana, but also east Texas, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

Confirmed attendees in 2005 included fans from areas as far away as Washington state, Kansas, California and New York, making MechaCon a well-attended event from all fronts.

Among the expected guests for the 2006 event are seasoned veterans in the fields of Anime and Transformers voice work who have proven to be large fan-draws at previous Anime events.

In addition to working with many companies and professionals in the Anime industry to bring attendees the most enjoyable convention experience possible, MechaCon 2.0 will also be a stop on Harmony Gold's Robotech Convention Tour 2006.
