News for Llamacon 2006:

Simon's Rock Anime Club announces Llamacon 2006

One-day convention to take place at Simon's Rock College of Bard

GREAT BARRINGTON, MA – October 21st 2005 - The Simon's Rock Anime Club, a non-profit student organization at Simon's Rock College of Bard (http://www.simons-rock.edu) in Great Barrington, MA, is excited to announce Llamacon 2006 (http://www.llamacon.org).

Llamacon, named after the ubiquitous mascot of the college, will be a one-day anime convention held on February 25th, 2006 at Simon's Rock College of Bard in the Daniel Arts Center.

"We wanted to make this different from other cons and focus on things that the average anime fan can't do at home" said Dan Orlowitz, convention chair and part of the B.A. Class of '06. "Llamacon will feature nothing but the best of the convention experience in one day. Because of the nature of our programming, we can truly say that it will be by the fans and for the fans."

Rather than show anime like traditional one- and three-day conventions, Llamacon will instead focus on fan-created works. Two video tracks will be reserved for Anime Music Videos, fandubs, and documentaries, while a panel track will explore subjects such as cosplay, fanfiction writing, drawing, and more. Attendees will be able to go to an Artists' Alley as well, where they will be able to sample works from various artists.

At night, the 350-seat McConnell Theater will become the staging area for a Cosplay Chess event, followed with a piano concert by Michael "Piano Squall" Gluck, (http://www.pianosquall.com/), Llamacon's Musical Guest of Honor. Llamacon will be Mr. Gluck's first convention performance of 2006.

Pre-registration for Llamacon will be $7 before January 31st, and at-the-door registration will be $10. Information on events, convention policies, directions, and more can be found at the official convention website: www.llamacon.org
