News for Otakon 2005:

Puffy AmiYumi to swing by Otakon for a panel

by PatrickD

Although not listed as actual "guests" at Otakon 2005, Puffy AmiYumi will be in Baltimore the same weekend and will be holding a panel on Friday, August 19th at 7:30pm.

"Apparently you're all just too cute, and the girls couldn't stay away after all," says Otakon's web site. "They're coming between gigs, so they won't have time to perform or sign autographs -- but they're coming to meet their fans."

Otakon 2005 is August 19-21 in Baltimore, Maryland. Due to space restructions, there is an attendance cap with less than 3,500 registrations left. Thomas McMullan, the president of Otakorp, Inc., has stated that if there are less than 2,000 registrations remaining at the end of the day on Friday, August 12th, they will not have any at-con registration.

Taking into consideration pre-registration trends from other anime conventions with attendance caps, Otakon will likely see a surge in registration over the next week. The possibility of at-con registration seems very unlikely.
