News for Anime Los Angeles 2006:

Anime Los Angeles 2 announces discounted memberships

June 2005, Los Angeles -- Anime Los Angeles has made it easier for students to take advantage of the Student Discount program. And, parents of young children are encouraged to sign up for a free Parent-in-Tow badge.

Students (K-12 or college) can pre-register for $30, instead of the usual $35. The convention asks that you include the name of your school, and your grade if K-12, when you pre-register; and bring your student ID when you pick up your badge. (You don't need to photocopy or scan in your student ID ahead of time.) Memberships will be $40 at the door with no student discounts. Pre-registering is the only way to get the student discount.

Members who are under 15 may bring a responsible adult, and the convention will issue a free "Parent-in-Tow" membership to the grown-up. The adult can be a relative or friend of the family to serve as the so-called Parent. Anime Los Angeles welcomes all anime fans who can behave themselves, regardless of age; but the convention is not a babysitting service.

Anime Los Angeles's guests of honor are: Hiroaki Inoue, professional GoH; PMBQ (tea-club.net), artist GoH; Karisu (aka "Karisu-sama") and Richard Man ("Didjiman"), fan GoHs; and Tadao Tomomatsu ("Mr. Shake-Hands Man"), toastmaster.

Anime Los Angeles will have a con suite, costume repair station, costume and prop workshops, live music including a band & karaoake, other live program events, an AMV contest, two dances, a masquerade, hall costume awards, a dealers room, game room, artist's concourse (for artists to sell and commission art), fan tables (for other clubs and conventions to recruit members), and two video rooms (one anime and one live-action).

Anime Los Angeles 2 will be held Friday-Sunday, 27-29 January 2006, at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys, California. The convention is sponsored by SDSFC, a non-profit organization, and is run entirely by fans volunteering their time. The website is at www.animelosangeles.org . Pre-registrations may be made payable to Anime LA and mailed to Anime Los Angeles, PO Box 17522, Anaheim CA 92817-7522.
