News for Tekkoshocon 2011:

Tekkoshocon welcomes international rap star Random

Pittsburgh, PA - January 6, 2011 - Tekkoshocon, Pittsburgh's anime, video gaming, and Japanese pop culture convention, is pleased to announce Pennsylvania born and internationally known rapper Random, aka Mega Ran, as its first musical guest.

Random, a Philadelphia native and Penn State graduate, got his start making beats on PlayStation's MTV Music Generator. This led to a position as producer and engineer with a local studio, where he recorded his first demo during downtime. Anime and gaming fans know him best for his video game inspired albums, MEGA RAN and MEGA RAN 9, and FOREVER FAMICOM, a collaborative release with acclaimed producer K-Murdock. His newest project, sampling tunes from Final Fantasy VII, is scheduled to release on January 31.

A teacher by day, Random performs at gaming, hiphop, and comic events worldwide and is signed to Japanese label River City Records. Random's music has received press coverage in Wired Magazine, The Phoenix New Times, URB Magazine, Game Developer, Nintendo Power, Blender, and more. He can be heard in game and movie soundtracks, in television spots, and on megaran.com.

Random will be performing in concert on Friday, April 1, 2011, as part of the four day Tekkoshocon IX event. He will also participate in autograph signings and other activities throughout the weekend. Registration for Tekkoshocon is currently available with a preregistration discount on tekkoshocon.com.
