News for Middle Tennessee Anime Convention 2011:

The Slants to headline at MTAC

NASHVILLE, TN - MTAC plays host to The Slants at the Easter weekend event MTAC Goes To 11!

The Slants are an Asian synth-pop band that have been melting faces off all over the country. What originated as a side project for bassist Simon Young (of The Stivs) in 2007 proved to be one of the most energetic and contagious movements of music in our time, now comprised of Aron Moxley (vocals), Johnny Fontanilla (guitar), Tyler Chen (drums) and Young. Since the creation of the band, The Slants have toured the country 10 times, received press for turning down a million dollar recording contract as well as being banned from a venue in Portland due to breathing fire, and were the first and only Asian band to be a Fender Music featured artist.

The Slants have released three albums since their 2007 debut: "Slanted Eyes, Slanted Hearts," "Slants! Slants! Revolution," and "Pageantry," while donating 100% of the proceeds from "Slants! Slants! Revolution" to benefit cancer research affecting Asian American women. The band is currently touring nationwide while working on their fourth release. MTAC Goes To 11 will mark The Slants' third time bringing their patented style of "Chinatown Dance Rock" music to Music City's Anime Con.

With MTAC Goes To 11 themed around music and its impact and presence in anime, manga and Japanese popular culture, The Slants are a perfect fit. Attendees who pre-register for MTAC Goes To 11 will receive a special gift from The Slants, and register before January 1 for cheaper rates. Stay tuned to http://mtac.net and follow MTAC on Facebook and Twitter for all sorts of cool things with The Slants in the new year, including sake tasting, free music and more!
