From Anime News Service

TV Aichi's World Cosplay Summit 2005 site has been officially launched. The event held in Japan will draw 40 cosplayers (individuals and groups) portraying anime, manga, and game characters from seven countries including the United States, Germany, France, Spain, China, Italy, and Japan. It is scheduled for August 7.

A qualification attache will be dispensed to the member countries throughout 2005 to select the candidates. The attache will appear at the following events:

  • CONNICHI - Germany - September 10-12, 2004
  • ROMICS - Italy - October 7-10, 2004
  • X SALON DEL MANGA - Spain - October 29-November 1, 2004
  • JAPAN EXPO - France - July 2005
  • ANIME EXPO - USA - July 1-4, 2005
  • WORLD COSPLAY SUMMIT - China - 2005 - Planning for searches in Beijing, Shanghai, and Kuangchou

Of note on the site is a running writeup up of each event completed along with imagery. Although several events have been completed, Germany is so far the only one cataloged in this fashion. Also, a broader account of the anime and manga findings in Germany during the visit has been posted in their column section.
